How do I set up 6-8 LED's in a series? (w/ 2 AAA batteries)?
The title says it all basically.
If the LED's are out of little tiny key-chains that take 3 really small button batteries, what voltage does that make them? because the batteries don't tell me...and I don't want to burn out the lights if I put them on the power source. Would 2 AAA batteries even be enough? I'm willing to use AA batteries as well. I'm putting these around the edge of a camera ring light I'm making as decoration/show so it should be pretty neat when done.
Let me know please, as I know little about electronics and don't trust me own 'googling' to find a definitive answer the mess everything up.
LED's in those keychain flashlight have an operating voltage in the 3 to 4 volt range. The rely on the internal resistance of the battery(s) for current limiting. Button batteries such as the LR44 are 1.5 volt alkalines. The CR series of cells (i.e.CR3025) are 3 volt lithium cells. There's a good chance that you will burn out your LED's by trying to run them without adding an additional current limiting resistor if you use them with larger cells such as your AAA's which have a lower internal resistance.
