Edit - Ugh! Just realized that I have confused with someone else. My answer remains valid if you intend to get all the species living in arid or semi-arid, but obviously the answer on the best book was based on the assumption that you get a misdemeanor leopard. which is not necessarily the case. What type of turtle you are planning to buy? Then we can properly advise you on care / lighting / etc. Lollipop hello, you get a baby leopard tortoise, is not it? For that species I highly recommend either zoom * 5.0 or 10.0 ReptiSun long fluorescent tube * (ie not compact fluorescent bulb type coil) for their needs UVB (also produces the visible spectrum UVA and UVB rays as well as, but not heat) and a standard incandescent bulb of the power and height above the substrate produce an agenda 30C/86f pilgrim. You can also get the mercury vapor bulbs (bulbs MegaRay urge to www.reptileuv.com) that combine heat and UV rays in a Light Bulb. These are great because they more closely mimic nature, where the tortoise would be done while its UV by basking in the sun for warmth.
