Can my brother drop felony charges he made on me after I have been arrested?
I'm 20 and my brother is 19. So me and my brother had an alterocation, and I used a flashlight in self defense and ended up cutting his head. I felt really bad as I was only trying to defend him after he had attacked me. Well he was already angry and decided to call the police and press charges. I was arrested and bailed out by my family. My brother feels very guilty admits he was in the wrong. My court date is in September and I was wondering if there is any way we can drop the charges and get it cleared off my record?
This is very important to me because I am planning on going into Pharmacy School and if this goes on my record it will be VERY difficult to get in. I have very good grades and am known as the good kid in the family. My brother is addicted to crystal meth and was coming off the drug at the time of the incident. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
He cannot, but he can refuse to testify against you. If he does this, the state will drop the charges against you. The arrest will stay on your record, but there will be no conviction there.
